Hi Bayou, thanks for putting up the right link, I had both of them and copied the wrong one.
Last I heard they had'nt inspected your still room yet. Have you had a visit yet?
Hows your new still working for you.

Muadib I believe it has to be at least 90%/180 proof in order to use as fuel and I think that's darn near impossible with a pot still. Bayou's site has a lot of info on it and he has gone through the process of getting his fuel permit.
Besides you have to keep production and use/distribution records, and denature your alcohol.

I saw that also. If they call fores good shine and are selling it at x amount per gallon damn i'd be a millionaire if i were sellin, lol.
I did view the show in a different frame of mind last night. After all it is entertainment. But I think it gives folks the wrong idea. Like drinking fores or glorifying the money being made. It just sets the wrong example of what this is to so many people. besides drinkin that stuff'll make ya go blind. haha

I don't believe the show Is real..but some of the mash they show looks real you can see the co2 bubbles..and they're using real ingredients too. I mean I suppose it is legal to make corn beer...there are a few things in the show that make you wonder though. Like when that one guy took a swig of shine then spit it into the fire and it caught fire.

It must be hard to watch if you're a veteran at what we do. The shows are produced in an attempt to entertain everyone, not just the ones in the know. I've seen the same reaction to those new metal detecting shows on Spike TV and NatGeo. Guys that metal detect are losing their minds over what they're seeing on the shows.

"Anyone catch the last episode of ""the show i love to hate"", where mike and tweety used a 120 gallon still to run off 200 gallons of shine? if their unit is like mine it makes a gallon of ""product"" for every 4-5 gallons of mash, so they had to run 800 to 1000 gallons of mash...which is 16 to 20 fifty five gallon barrels!! Holy cow, that'd take alot of time, space, or both!! Stay tuned tonight to see who goes to jail....!!!

I've worked on a movie set and it is a lot of smoke and mirrors. My wife worked for Jesse James when he was doing his Monster Garage show. My take is it's water and they have it prepped to turn on when the camera focuses on the pipe. You see how it just runs out all at once. Also, filming in that many locations just isn't happening in my opinion. They probably have a large acreage with sets on it so it looks like different places and the thumb tack on the map is for show. Also, the whole crew would go to jail if they got busted and bet your ass the feds know what's happening.
Jesse James was paid 65K per episode. Those guys are paid actors and it's all scripted. I enjoy the humor and the drama they try to add but other than that, Cheap Thrills to quote Janus Joplin.

Well, we have to wait till next season to find out who goes to jail, cuz they left the season in a cliffhanger. Jeff "apparently" gets stopped by the law and Mark drives on by, leaving Jeff to fate. Tim gets a call from an "investor", wanting to finance his legal distillery. Tickle gets to play the "Good Humor Man" from his small motor home and pays off his debts. Anticipation for the next season!
