I guess you are stressing electric oven.
Perhaps an electric fry pan may substitute-- I am no convinced that the carbon is dangerous in a gas oven if boiled and drained at least 3 times--- I'm just guessing on this one.

"Hey Captain, that is very interesting. I used to sell a water purifying filter cabinet top unit called Hurley. It had a hose that fit a faucet and tap water ran through it, about the size of the large 44 oz coffee cans, and out the top to whatever you needed it for. When it got full of crap, you reversed the hose and ran hot water backwards, back flushed it, for 15 min. Then it was ready to go again. It worked great and you could use it over and over.

So, my question is this. If that unit discharged the junk with HOT water in a 15 min flush, why doesn't the carbon do it in a 10 min boil? Looks like either Hurley was wrong, or Gert Strand is being overly cautious because the lawyers said prevent law suits.

Either way, both agree that carbon can be flushed and used again."

Well I am just reading the book and it is saying elect. oven. If I can safely use my gas oven after boiling 2-3 times I would rather do that. Has someone used a gas oven for this process ,I just don't want to find out the hard way...:)

I haven't. I have a gas BBQ and I could try it on that with the lid open of course.

Hey captin, if you have a gas oven don't you also have a gas stove top? I have'nt revived any charcoal as yet. But I have an air brush room for coating guns and it has a charcoal filter that will need to be revived at some point and all I have is a gas stove or a propane burner. Maybe I'll boil it on the burner and then put it in the oven.

Hi cap,
I just did my carbon cleaning today to get ready for my next run. I let the water come to a rolling boil. Added my carbon and loosly covered the pot until the water/carbon came to a rolling boil again and boiled for 30 minutes and stirred occasionaly. I had the stove vent fan on the whole time. For the first 10-12 minutes there was a pretty good alcohol smell, next 8 minutes were less to no smell, and the last 10 minutes no smell at all. I think the rolling boil and stirring cleaned all the crap out. I baked mine in a 375f electric oven for 2.5 hours but I'm pretty sure the 30 minutes boiling time got all the flamables out so it should have been safe in a gas oven. Hope this helps you out.

Well thanks for the info everyone. When it comes time for me to recycle my carbon after the boiling I'll take Okie's idea and cook it out side on the gas weber BBQ just to be safe and if that turns out to be ok than I'll try in the house...
