"If I use the Essential Extractor Pro Series II- Complete Distiller how long should it take to cook 5.5 gallons of a yeast/sugar wash? How much end product should I end up with? What should my proof be? What is a good cooking temperature?

What is a good cooking temperature?[/COLOR]

You do not control boiler temps. The composition of the wash does that for you. If alcohol boils at 174 and water at 212,,,then the boiling point will be somewhere in between those two temps. And as the alcohol gets liberated from the bulk amount of water within the boiler,,,,the boiler temps will rise as the alcohol content continues to be reduced. Your boiler temp will never ever exceed 212 unless you run the boiler dry.

A boiler charge of 14% abv will have a lower starting boiling temp than a wash that is 8%

Steady input (no cycling) is best for good fractioning.

Often gents will bring to temp pretty rapidly then back off on the heat during the run......

You need to ask more questions,,,,,,,,,,and you need to ask better questions.. Don't run that rig till you understand........IMHO"

With a lot of variables like explained above you could:

From start to finish using the 1500 watt hot plate you could cook 5 gallons off in 4-6 hrs. Depending on a lot of different things. You'll get a idea after you run the same wash a few times.

You could end up with a gallon - a gallon and a half cut to 90 proof. That is going to vary a lot depending on how you cut your heads and tails and what the alcohol content of your wash is.

If you check your 'proof' at the very beggining it should be in the 140 proof range at the start of the run if you are in pot still mode, and it will decrease during the process to where you decide to end it. I usually cut if off at around 80 proof and run the end out for about a half hour and put that into the next run.

You'll get it all figured out after about 100 gallons or so :)"
