Ive gotten no instructions with my new still, and I am wondering how much of the copper mesh to put into the vertical column, and if I should put it into the upper and lower columns. Thanks Bob

Depending on how you are going to run it, in potstill mode just put in 2, in reflux fill it up.

I have 6 copper pot scrubbers I stuff in around the reflux tubes. Seems to really do a better job refluxing as the cooling effect from the water tubes is spread out over a larger surface area.

"I agree with rat on placement. The other thing to remember is as it oxidizes you will need to clean it, citric acid (I think), or replace it. I went with the ceramic peices and just put a little copper at the top for the reaction. The ceramic I just boil in water to clean and toss the copper.

Copper will stain the rubber bung, FYI."
