I just received my new unit and am having a little trouble hooking up the hoses and water control does someone have a couple pics of their unit all hooked up they could share with me? Thanks I'n advance

im thinking of using 1/2 inch i.d. copper tubing and making it permanent.

You could but why? The vinyl tubing is easily hooked up & removed between reflux & pot mode. I'm having a hell of a time welding the ferrel to to my keg now, don't even want to start with my column.

i have a small pot tower so i wont be using the 3 inch tower for pot mode. -- i also feel that copper tubing would help disipate heat a little and make the 4 tube setup a tad more efficient than it already should be. i already have the vynil hoses on my 2 inch cm tower. another crazy idea is to mount a small fan to blow air across that un insulated section.

For pot mode you only need condenser water. The cooling water in the top of the head is useless.

Sorry - I appear to be confused - I went back & looked & I mistakenly mixed up your separate pot & reflux stills - since you have separate still I see no real downside to using permanent copper line. The fan would undoubtedly increase the efficiency of the reflux lines while removing the potential heat from your water bath.

"When I first got my PSII HC I hooked up the water supply as in the supplied diagram and soon found that it was not ideal for my situation. After a lot of experimenting, I concluded that splitting the water supply gave the best and most consistant results. I have well water, so do not use circulating supply. The water is a constant temp year round, so with split supply and drains, it is easy to regulate the temps very quickly without the cascading drift I was getting with the recommended hookup. I use 2 water line saddle valves for the supply regulation and 2 independant 1/2"" hose drain lines.

Water in the bottom of the condenser and out to drain at top. In to bottom tube of reflux and serpentine through the center to the top and out the top to drain. It takes very little water for the condenser and barely more than that for the reflux in order to maintain 170 - 172 deg. using an 1100 watt hotplate and 6 1/2 gal load of cleared wash. (After I bring it to temp with a turkey fryer burner) The condenser never needs tweaked once it is set and the reflux takes a couple of tweaks in the first few minutes and then settles out for the next 4 hours producing consistant 186 proof goodies! I monitor the temps on the condenser and reflux with 2 remote thermometers so I can go about my business and use a timer to remind me to check the temps every 30 minutes. I collect the batches every hour. Works for me.

Thanks for the info. Your system sounds exactly like what i am trying to achieve. I am an absolute beginner at this and have been watching and reading this site for over a year. I have my first batch of mash almost ready to go and am very excited about it. I would love to speak with you about a couple questions i have. The stainless tubes are 1/2 inch & the copper tubing is 3/8"
