"I was running the first potcheen wash and had 3 thermometers monitoring. THE TOP OF THE RIG GOT HOT BEFORE THE BOTTOM. Boy was i confused. i had volt and ammeters in line. i switched to 120 volts with a router controll. Then steam began coming out at about 180 degrees. I increased the cooling and the steam stoped for a couple of minutes and started again. BTW i was running 6 gallons in an 8gallon boiler with electric elements internal.
Well after i shut down and went to empty the boiler i noticed that there was barely 1 gallon left and the electric element was partly exposed. Closer examination showed that the coupling that i had added with jb weld came loose and about 4to5 gallons leaked out--im working on a deck and the liquid must have run through the cracks.
tomorrow ill use a diferent boiler and see what i need to repair the 8 gallon one.
i was ready to admit that i would never be able to get to the irish whiskey and burbon.
tomorrow is another day.:)"

That would be hard to figure when you were running. Good thing it didn't burn out your heating element. How much product were you able to collect on that run?

DIV-- Im running a 6kw 240 volt element in the rig that broke-- It was too long so i had to add a NPT coupling to allow it to fit-- i used jb weld but aparently it wasnt done correctly.. Im going to find a shorter element and still maintain the 240 volts as a starer.--- my second rig is 115 volts"
