The chain is used to keep the pot from falling over. You must hang the chain from the ceiling and rap it around the tower !!

The chain is indeed for cleaning but hell it could'nt hurt to chain it to the ceiling if it makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy.

My chain stays in the pot always - cooking, drying, etc.
