"Hello everyone. I have been drifting this site for a while now. I just purchased a PS11 with a premium kettle to replace the Easy still I have been playing with for about 6 months and can hardly wait for it to arrive.

I figgured it was about time to stop drifting, register, and say ""hello"" BigGrin"

"That water will do as long as its not chlorinated. If it is just areate it overnight or boil the piss out of it and it'll be fine.BigGrin
But if you are already using it for beers and wines your good ta go."

Nope, not chlorinated. No additives at all. Live out in the desert and had my own well dug, so it's naturally sand filtered at that!

"the picture and the description dont seem to match. the picture shows a single burner. what do you have????

Two 7-1/2-inch cast iron elements, 900 watts per burner, 1800 watts total
Robertshaw thermostats: infinite heat controls to attain desired temperatures
Easily cleaned stainless steel housing
Power lights indicate burners are turned on

is it like the picture?? im confused-- we usually use a single 1500 watt burner that is bypassed and conected to a router speed control.
This picture is poor but it contains a router speed control, an in line thermostat with a sensor and a single element by passed hot plate

UserPostedImage

here is another one-- the point i am making is that the hotplate is a single burner 1500 watt unit

I can't see where the 2 elements are but if you can get 1800 watts under your boiler it should work great.

now you need to by pass the control so it never cycles -- then use a variac or router speed controll the applied voltage.. you want steady heat but you must be able to reduce it at some point---no cycling on and off."
