I stand there when it does it and immediately pull the lid. There is no sign of any foam but the mash appears to be boiling as I remove the top.
I don't understand how it blows off as there is no resistance when you turn the top over and put the plastic drain hose that comes with it into the small hole and blow easily so how does it build the pressure to blow it off?
Seems to me that every time it does this you are loosing the alcohol in the steam?Confused

I just took a 12 inch piece of copper electrical wire, stripped it, and made a loop about 4 inches in diameter with it. It's pretty much 100% copper so you don't have to worry about other metals in there. I throw it into my Easystill everytime. Problem solved."

"i have a mr. distiller (easy still) i use for small runs. just yesterday i had the same thing happen i started to hear a noise coming out of the distiller so i pulled the plug
and put on my gloves and took off the cooler coil what i could see was the extra sugar that did not ferment mad a hotspot in the boiler and was making it pop on that one side in the boiling wash that is what blew the cooling coil top off"

"O.k, so after a year of running my easy still without a problem, I finally had what you guys have been talking about happen to me.
The lid didn't ""blow out"" exactly but it was starting to buck. I noticed that the liquor was pouring out instead of the usual trickle. It tasted right, but it was a lot warmer than what usually comes out.
I pressed the reset button, hoping that would bring down the amount of heat the hotplate was putting out. Within a few seconds the lid stopped bucking and the output was back to a trickle. It tasted right and it wasn't warmer than usual anymore. I was able to finish the run without further incident.
For those of you still having problems, perhaps pressing the reset button will help."

fill with about 2 cups of water start still in about 15 min take the lid off use gloves and tilt the lid towards you while stepping back so steam does not get in your eyes then look in the pot for the hot spot in the pot and you will see it needs to be clean in that spot.I had this problem it looked clean but there was a stain on the bottom almost the same color i used a brush on it with the hot water and dish soap and never had that problem again BigGrin

"A follow up from my original post about the problem of blowing off.
I did get the anti foaming agent that Brewhaus sells and have been using it ever since with NO MORE BLOW off of the top.The little bottle will last forever.........well not really but I only put 3 or 4 drops in each run.I strongly suggest using the ""anti foaming agent"" if you are having this problem.BigGrin"
