you will be running for more than 8 hours with a 15 gallon wash. my 8 gallon washes run long enough for me to get annoued with them. thats why i use wireless thermometers that allow me to sit at the computer or tv while dstilling. i use a pump to get my 8 gallon boiler empty but if you can drain on the ground, a valve is nice. i have valves on my grain equipment.

Dont know beans about propane even though i use it on my smoker and bbq."

"A five gallon wash usually takes me about 6-7 hours now that I really know my unit. If you are gonna strip that first run it might be substantially shorter that 8 hours. But if you collect in drips you can almost bet its gonna be 6-8 hours. Think about how long it takes to drip 3-5 quarts. A 20 pound LP jug like for your grill lasts me four or five runs on my still. Once your up to heat you are gonna turn the gas WAY DOWN. So have some way to protect that little bitty flame. Oh and Ive never seen a 5lb propane tank so that - I dont know, sorry.

Should you put a ballvalve on your boiler??? Its not absolutely a must but it cant hurt if thats what you want."

You could run 10-13 gallons and that gives some head space. Just know that will be a very long day.

sure - why not leave it in the fermenter and transport. You will prolly need to let it settle again anyway unless its a sugar wash. But thats not a problem just go for it.

"well spent the day doing my vinegar run and then
the real deal. went really well no problems at all with my rig. ( thanks brewhaus)
ran a 5 gallon gerber wash. prolly could have let it ferment another few days or so.forgot to take a SG when i started my wash ( rookie mistake i know) so i wasnt expecting a great run. tossed about 280ml of fores.
ended up with a little more than a gallon in pint jars going to let it air tonight.
took a few samples throughout the run and the lowest was 82% and highest was 86%. im happy with that for my first run. my brother was sure liking it.lol
any ways thanks again guys for all the info and advice!!!BigGrin
going to give this wash another go. and will defintly give it at least three weeks to a month to ferment out.
ok im dawg tired and gunna go sip on some fireball

thanks again peeps!! BigGrin"
