on this show it appears to me that they are cooking the mash in the same pot that they ferment in, its a 800 gal. pot. how is this possible without scorching

Its a submarine. It has a reputation for low quality spirits. They using a real thin charge. And the squat height helps with better heat distribution.

Not sure which parts are true, but anyone with a even a speck of common sense can easily figure out there's a whole lot of false in this show. I used to love Discovery Channel.

That guy lives 3 miles down the road from me. He actually was a moonshiner...that has been busted in the past and everything your seeing is reenactment or dramatization. He doesnt run shine anymore....well as far as we know

I saw that. I also saw an episode where some informant was in the car with an atf guy telling him that some shiner was cutting his shine with Clorox.WTF. I never even heard of anything like that. Or the shine joints where they serve illegal liquor. I think if anyone wants it theyd buy and go home or wherever to drink it rather than hang around somewhere waitng to get busted. I have to call BS on this show.. Oh by the way BS on A&E storage wars also.

Its just intertainment for the folks that dont really know....and they chose Tim cause hes been caught and will play along for the right amount of $$$. No real harm done its TV afterall. Yes we all know hes not making hooch.

yea and now its hard to order supplies for anyone who has some idea of the process cause everyone thinks they are a pro now the market is going to be full of bullshitshine that will turn you blind in the next few weeks (my honest opinion)

The --market-- what market?? Bullshit shine has always been out there, thats why we are here, to learn to make -real-good-hooch. There are lots of sites selling distilling supplies and stills too. Every homebrew shop sells yeast and grains and alcohol proof meters and everydamn thing else you can think of so I would bet this little TV show wont hurt any of these companies.

the market as in just everyone who trying to sell and theres going to be some idiots turning out 100 times more shit shine and make it hard for rest us to be trusted for good product im in no way saying im a pro and i placed my order before i hit this site its on order but instead of 2 weeks its up to 4-6 weeks to fill my order like i said just my opinion not meant to offend or hurt anybodys feelings

...when I am really bored and have nothing else to do, I'll watch it. I noticed the little things like adding sugar and not getting scalded. I yelled at my TV and my friends think I'm crazy. They believe the hype, but I don't. One thing they do believe, though, is that I can make a decent, smooth likker that won't make them blind.
It's a win-win situation. :)

"At first i was buying it...then I got to thinking....If the camera crew is filming this and they are filming the ATF...wouldn't they get in trouble for knowing illegal activity and with holding it? Then I saw the fire Chief episode and then knew it was all bullshit....No one is gonna put their face on a show and hold a position like that in the local community....uuughh....
Plus when they were filling the pot with that green ass creek water....hmmmmm"
