Walmart sells wood chips made out of used Jack Daniels barrels. They are meant to be used in smokers.

You can get white oak at the box hardware stores. They have diffrent size boards so you don't have to buy a lot at once.

If you look carefully you can identify the white oak that is used in wooden pallets, works great and free. a pallet will give you all you want.

Look for old and heavy pallets, the majority of them will have some oak frames. All you need is one and your set fior awhile.
