I think I'd ask the Administration here (Rick) about what kind of plastic would be chemical resistant. Most of the guys here will tell you not to use any plastic with high proof alcohol. Personally I'd use stainless steel.

Brewhaus sells a non metalic carbon filter

1.5"" diameter filter unit. Made of chemical tolerant plastic, with chemical tolerant, food grade sealant.
Includes RF Clamp, Funnel Holder, and starter pack of filter papers.

I'll eventually buy thier stainless rig but i'm not sure i need a carbon filter."

ABS has a rating of 'good' against ethanol, and PVC has a rating of 'fair'. Of course, this is rated against pure ethanol, so the effects should be reduced with lower proof.

You can use PVC but of course you should'nt pour high proof hooch through the carbon anyway. 120 is the max from what i remember and I never go higher than that. Something about cellar destruction of the carbon and it will not collect the stuff your trying to remove at high proof. Not to mention high proof ethanal IS solvent llike so the PVC MAY become a factor pt higher proofs."
