i like to try to build new cool stuff just in being bored for fun so heres my newest thought thinking about getting a 20 gal plastic drum for a ferment barrel simple enough right so from there i had a plan to build in a sight tube so i can watch that would be built by taking a 2 inch 90 degree fitting on the top and bottom with 2 inch hose going between them then on the inside of this would be a hydrometer as well so you can see how far along and watch your progress what yall think am i just bored or does this sound like a cool idea

Well mr. X I think you are just bored..lol. Now I have known mechanical minded folks over the years who just like to tinker around with stuff..build things etc. If that is your cup o tea I would vote for going for it. Now that kinda stuff bores me to death. I much rather be swigging on some shine and playing compooter..or maybe slipping off to the cabaret and pass out free apple pie for table dances and stuff like that. Ahh well..different strokes I guess:) Best of fortunes on the project. If it works good I might buy one. If this thing gets perfected do you envision any kind of EZ tote the note plan where po'folks could own such a contraption? Thanks.

Well sounds like a plan. Old chum tell me they have some kinda big trash cans at Home Depot that are food grade. I could not handle that much wash since I am only out to extract distilled water and essential oil etc. wink wink.

I think it's a great idea. I get tired of opening and closing my bucket to check the status. I had problems with the same idea on the distilling side. Could'nt get the alcohol meter to hold up under the warm temperature of the outlet liqour.
