Well I use a large pitch of yeast in my 25 liter (6.5 Gallon) sugar washes. I pitch 1/3 a cup (2 2/3 ounces OR roughly 18 teaspoons).

The reason I pitch such a large amount of yeast is so that the wash will ferment out fast and with predictable results. I am only after neutral ethanol. The recipe I use is tried and true and will produce a 10% ABV wash every time.

Now granted I could use less yeast and make a starter, or use less and simply wait longer for the yeast to multiply but, I follow my recipe and get predictable, repeatable results every batch.

I use instant dry bakers yeast, pitch it dry, stir it in and get the results I'm looking for."

I have some distillers yeast on the way this was the only kind i could find in bulk. 2 2/3 cups of bakers yeast that would be a lot of 3 packs
