Hmmm. Well most common beer in God's Country (Texas of course) is 3.6 percent ethyl alcohol. Okies and military boys get 3.2. Now some of the yup beer goes higher of course..speaking Bud..Coors..Lonestar etc. That aint going to make a very good wash I dont think. Us testosterone laden manly man Alpha males like the wash above twenty. Hey dump some MD 20/20 down in there. Bet that output would blow Aunt Myrtle's Dress up over her head.lol. You could even call it Brandy..should shed some of the formaldehyde etc. Great choice for a sacrifice run. Or do you have to do a sacrifice run on those gizmos? If you put in weak stuff you get weak stuff back in other words. They have sliding scales which show a person exactly..if the wash is so strong you multiply by X and it will tell you how strong the hooch will be. I have a link to it around here somewhere.

"Yea, beer is a low alcohol wash, so you'll get about a third of product that you'd get with a 12% wash. As you run it, smell it and taste it and you'll learn what to keep and what to cut. I'm guessing that quart had all the heads, all the hearts, all the tails, and some water to boot."

Ya know...it doesn't take 25% wash in the fermenter to get 90% in the keeper cup. As ya'll know a still concentrates the ethanol when it comes out, so with the right kind of distillation even low proofs in the fermenter you could still get high proof finished hooch, just not as much -- know what I mean. Look at it this way -- cook you beer in a very good reflux tower or a tower with very high seperation action (a fractioning tower) and you could still get high proof hooch, now a goose neck tower would'nt give high proof results with a low % wash of course but its not meant to. Anyway just food for thought, or hooch for thought!

Something I just remembered... a buddy of mine takes old beer kegs and refluxes the beer out of them and runs it in his airboat. I've never tasted that product, but it wasn't for drinkin its for fuel. Now he said it just wasn't worth the time and effort to harvest it but the proof HAD to be up there, I dont recall asking but to run a motor...well it had to be high. Again -- beer -- concentrated alcohol -- high proof hooch.

Well interesting thread. Have heard many tales of folks running stale beer through the hooch makers with good results..maybe to stick in with the next run or something like that. Prob take one of them tall monster high dollar BH Refluxers to make it fittin on the first pass. Make it reflux for a few hours then whamo..a silk purse out of a Sow's ear:)
