I live near Ottawa, Canada and I'm looking for a food grade 20 gallon / 75 L fermenter. I know I've seen them online from the U.S. but I really don't want to order one online ,I don't even want to think what the shipping would be,. So if anybody know's where I can get one near by that would be great.

Tim, Try a brew shop. Some shops get malt extract in a large plastic container ,20 gal,. I have taken most of the top off one for a primary fermenter. I suppose you could leave it intact and just drill a hole for an air lock. The one that I got had two screw caps on it. One cap was close to two inches in diameter and the other is about six inches. They are both to small to get in and scrub it well but if you have a good squirt nozzle I suppose that would work. Let me know if you have any luck. Seems like the online brew shops are pretty good about shipping prices, and their equipment is a lot more pretty. You should at least look at it. Bottoms up.

I only reported what I saw on the on-line store. Maybe Smiley Industries have a wholesale arrangement??

Alright, I'm confused. How can he offer the product for sale on his site? I might add that they are somewhat cheaper than Brewhaus.ca - 2.69 vs. 3.07 ,CDN, for most Liqueur essences. Maybe it's only for his American customers and he orders from Brewhaus USA for shippment to those customers?? I've never tried to order essences from Ian. I've only ordered from Brewhaus.ca. but I noticed Ian's offerings while researching the PDA-1.

Don

Until just recently, I used to sell Prestige essences in Canada on my web, www.home-distilling.com, under a drop-ship arrangement with Brewhaus Canada. This relationship has just broken down and I can no longer sell the Prestige brand in Canada. Within the next 48 hours I will modify my site to reflect this.

The complication here is that I can still sell Prestige to the rest of the world through Brewhaus America, but I can't sell to customers in Canada. This is particularly awkward since I, myself, live in Canada, and my business is a Canadian business.

I apologize for this confusion, but hopefully the notices that will be on my web site will clarify this.

Please note that all my other products are available in Canada.

As for where to buy large plastic fermenters in Ottawa, go to Musca's Wine Cellars on Somerset Street, near Preston Street. Musca has plastic fermenters that go up to 100s of gallons.
