I had read on another distillation forum about some modifications to the amazing still and one person reported 93% with it!!!! I know about the insulation and that is not the one, although I will be doing that too, but I read about some air cooled spiral, something or another... and when I went to see pictures all the links were expired so I have no idea, but it sounded like an easy modification and I am sure everyone who has an amazing still would be interested in 93%!!! Well, if anyone has any information or ideas I would love to hear them, Thanks a ton, kevin

It is not the amazing still. It is a spiral still which is a regular boiler with a ,usually, 1/2' copper spiral of about 5m in lenght spiralling up and then down. it is run about 400-600W and needs no 'forced' cooling as the heat is lost to the air. very slow vapour flow and reflux in the tubes leads to high strengths of up to 95%. try searching for spiral or ambient here www.taet.com.au/distillers.nsf

Hey Peter, when you stated the spiral still run about 400-600W is these numbers refering to the wattage of the heater? I'm new to this, help me out.
