"I ordered an 8 gallon premium kettle with a coupler added from BH, now looking at elements and controllers:
I'm looking at a 5500-6000 watt element, most of the 6000 watt are 14"" and that's awful close to being too long. Kettle is 14"" diameter plus coupler. Anyone out there with a Brewhause 8 gallon premium kettle with a coupler added care to add any info on how long they can go on an element, would be appreciated.
What would be better for this application High, Medium, Low Watt Density?
Secondly I am looking a few controllers. I understand you get what you pay for but anyone have any experience with any of these?

I got a Rockler 20 amp for the BH hotplate. Has worked great so far but it gets hot hot. Maybe they all do I aint sure..first and only one I ever owned. Did not see the 26 amp but paid about the same money as the other. Overheard a lecture one time on the efficacy of the high density elements..or think I did..lol. Perhaps they get more expensive the denser they get. Know for sure you dont want SS..that supposed to be outreagous. Maybe with the adapter in place it might make just enough extra length to get the 14 incher poked in it. I would check it when I got it to make sure. Best of fortunes and kindly keeps us posted.

I FOUND A 550 WATT short element at some hardware outfit in kentucky. I cant find the link now. I have looked for it a few times too.
I use a 20 amp router controller but only when i am applying 120 volts to the 240 volt element.
I start the element at 240 volts and switch to 110 volts as soon as there is sign of heat at the bottom of the tower."

That was a very good price, ordered 2 under $10 each. I am looking to do the same thing you are doing, getting up to temp using 240v on the element then switching down to a router control using 120v to control and stabilize temp.
This is the controller I ordered, the Rockler.
