"Just started up and my recipe is this

24 oz yellow corn meal
2 lbs sugar
1 package store yeast
2 gallon bucket
Distilled water

Have it sitting at 70 ish and won't go above 5%. Is this ok? What is a simple ""starters"" recipe if this is a no go. Thanks people! Look forward to a long career in this!"

Sounds plausible. Here lately I been doing like this. Seems like the cornmeal gives a larger output of finished product than other washes I have used. Thinking maybe it such a small size maybe the yeast can eat a little of it.

2.5 lbs yellow cornmeal
10 lbs sugar
1 Tablespoon distillers yeast
five or six gallons of tap water
