"My landlord supplys water free. He also is extremely reasonable with the lot rent. On a 15 hour run--i run extra slow. I think i use 1 gallon in 2 minutes. Maybe more. I have a car radiator and the adapters to size the openings down to 1/2 inch. I just ordered the water pump from brewhaus. My intention is to fill the slop sink and pump that water through the still cooling lines then over to the radiator inlet. I have a large squirril cage fan lefr over from my recently replaced heating system. No pictures till i get the contraption into test operation. Ill do it by just running water through the whole setup and not have the still operating. Coments suggestions or questioms will help me to do the job correctly "

Scotty, I think you've said you do your runs on your deck, right? If so, sounds like you have a good plan. All I could foresee is the heat coming off the radiator. But if you're outside anyway, no problem. About how much water will the system require at full charge? Did you use the water constantly during your run? Your estimate on what you have used in the past was 450 gallons (or more), based on constant usage during the entire run.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Hope that squirrel cage can move enough air to suit it. Old grease monkey acquaintance hooked up a car fan radiator fan to use as a room fan. Brudder that fan could move some serious air around. Glad OSHA had not been invented yet. They prob give him a ticket as that uncovered fan was highly dangerous. Best of fortunes on the project.

Hey scotty, a 50lb block of ice with a towel thrown over it on the intake side of that fan should help with the cooling effect. Just a thought.

At any rate. im looking foreward to the experiment. I wish one of those electric fans for cars that run on 12 volts were available at 120 volts without using a transformer.
I saw a guy using a heater core out of a mack truck in the same manner and it worked."

The system not only consists of the still.and the radiator but there is a slop sink separating them. The water pump will be in the slop sink. Ill bet the sinkwill have about 25 gallons of water in it. What are your thoughts. Yes i guess that this system belongs outside LOL."

Ya know if a person got this tweaked up right looks like mop sink could be left out of the loop. Inline recirculating pump on a closed system. I like the sound of it. In fact I got a chum on another forum who has or had an ethanol production bizness and think thats how they done it. They used water heaters for the distiller and cooled it down with the car radiators. I will ask him about this and report back. Maybe save a step or two

I could use a bucket for the pump but the size of the sink avoids getting too exact. You have me thinking about putting silicone on the outside. Also i insulated behind the ranco control. That was a good observation. This is the first time i ever mounted a control to a hot tank. My PIDs that operate the still are in a separate box and never get near heat. I wonder how many times i will have to take the bolts out before the setup is done??? lol I have another pump but why get too technical as long as i have the sink. Well just a report back from the chum and come to find out he was making bio diesel out of Brazilian Salad oil..lol. He do not know squat about ethanol. Never fails huh? Now got to assume your return water will be going down the drain on this plan? That be enough to make Alfgore shed a tear. Real sad. Lets cure that part..lol.

scotty, could you freeze some water bottles and just switch em out as they melt??? At least you dont have to buy ice.

Well if the head temperatures can be used as a guide, then pid controls actuating 3 way valves should enable us to separate all 4 factions. The foreshots would be monitored by a liquid level device and switch off when 150 prox. milliliters was reached.. I already have it set up to switch from 240 to 120 volts as soon as the temperature starts to rise at the base of the tower. Somerone who knows how to program a PLC could do it a lot quicker also but i cant."

"We just removed all the controls and added a flat rubber and some silicone to the outside and a flat rubber washer along with the existing o ring on the inside too. If it leaks now i wont know why.
Ok 2 upgrades because of this thread.. Silicone on the outside and insulation behind the ranco control.
If it doesnt leak tomorrow, ill wire it up."

Well as my Daddy always say..Rome wasnt built in a day. Hoping it works well. If not sure you get back on it and make it work right. Our confidence level is high on this project.
