I couldnt get any one to weld the 1 inch NPT to the pot. So i made a few adapters of my own. Pictures in the works.
I have a 6kw 220 volt element that i will install and run on 120 volts.====1500watts

I have had it out and in 3 times and it still leaks a drop or 2 We are going to let the silicone cure for 48 hours before re installing. This is one reason why i would never buy a boiler without having rick weld the coupling on for me..In this case i am modifying another pot--mash tun.

"scotty, those little leaks can make you wanna bite a nail I know but keep at it -- that silicone sounds like it might do the trick. Is it heat tolerent so as to not soften too much?? I know you thought of that but I just thought I'd ask. I had this little leak issue once AFTER I filled my boiler and was in the cooking mode, arrrrrrrrrgh. I had to transfer my wash to a holding pot and get out another boiler - what a P.I.T.A. ( thats pain in the ass with a capital P. ). Anyway good luck pal."

Well sure wished somebody had hollered about needing some welding done. I could have throwed the 220 Lincoln crackerboxs and a few rods in the back of the pickup and been in route. Everybody likes to keep secrets seems like.

I suspected that the leak was coming past the threads. NPT is not that precission. I couldnt find heat tollerant silicone-- i never thought it would be so hard to find. I still may have trouble with this stuff. Oh one other note. I had a diferent silicon on the first 2/3 ? installations and this is the first time i am trying this aquarium stuff on the mash tun. It worked ok on the Hot Liquor Tank but i dont like using materials that are not specifically rated for the environment in which i intend to use them. I'm getting sloppy.

Well yes..you are correctemundo. I wanted mine done right..lol. Sides since posting this helpful offer I remembered I peddled the crackerbox to some other dummy a few years back. The Warden did not like my welder incarnation because it too handy to leave scrap metal laying around out in the yard. Send it to Rick. Or go make friends with a local dirt dauber who knows how to do delicate work. Wimmen supposed to do it best. Let us know.

Sorry for the over exposed photo lol The mod finally doesnt leak. I think the reason is because i used a 3/4 inch drive wratchet to tighten it. The thermowell and tapered drill bit are next in line
