"Not many in the distilling hooch realm use a liquid yeast but you most certainly could. There are many differnet strains that add a flavor to the finished beer but they cost more and do the same thing,---make EToH. Unlike a dry yeast when you get a pack of liquid yeast most times you need to make a starter so you can boost the cell count. You could buy 2 packs or just make a starter with DME and water, mix it up and put it on a stir plate for 12-18 hours and now you have 200-250 billion cells. With cell count like that the yeast is not spending its energy makeing esters and yuckies it makeing sister cells and alcohol.
So if you find a deal on liquid yeast or want to try it then go for it.RollEyes"

Seems like one of the expurts on here say one time to dip out a pint or so of hot wash during the cool down cycle. The small sample of course cool down first..or you could put in the ice box most likely. When the small amount gets to temps throw the cheap dry version in there. By the time the main body drops enough to pitch...the yeastes have got a good start on the small batch and should give some nice multitudes of living critters to dump in the big boy. That should give it some liquid yeast. I keep intending to do that. Seems like it Scotty who come up with that..but I wouldnt want to bet my life on it. That will be on the agenda for next time. Thanks to who dispensed the tip.

Before i stick my foot in my mouth, I never used a liquid yeast.
I just would like to comment ((i dont disagree with the post))) on yeast starters.
This is not the common thing but i never pitch dry yeast without a starter bottle. I'm not talking about re hydrating; but a starter bottle using either aerated wurt/mash liquid or just aerated water with nutrients."
