"Finally finished fermenting my wash. Tomorrow I'll run the ES for my first time, but I have some concerns... 1. Will foaming or boil-overs be a problem? 2. Could I throw a fork otr something in to break bubbles? Thanks!! "

Just don't fill to tip top. I've never had a foaming issue

I ran the still a couple days ago, and it worked! (sorta) I threw a bit less than 4 liters of wash and plugged it in. An hour later I saw drippage and discarded the first 1-2 Tablespoons. After that, I waited 2 hours and collected 3 cups of 60 proof vodka. Truth be told, I'm a bit disappointed in myself. I think I measured SG wrong. (Do I measure before or after pitching hydrated yeast?) Anyways, I learned a bit and have some of my very own, homemade vodka Better luck next time!

I ran the alotech yeast and reduced the recipe to my still size. Produced 140 proof all day long. When tossing heads, lay them out in 1/2 pint jars and label them 1,2,3 .etc. You will see it clear up the further into the run. Always throw out more to be safer

22 pint jars! I also didn't run til the end. Only ran up to about 195 degrees. Got what I wanted and shut down. I then took the first 3 jars and put them into my "recycle" jar.

I've been using my easy still for over a year and a half, and I've only had it boil over once; it's not that big an issue. Furfishngame's experience is about par for the course on a first run. Double distilling dramatically improves ABV and taste. I run 2batches all the way through then mix it with another liter of wash and run it again. If you make good cuts, you'll get 70-75% ABV, and it'll taste lots better than what you get just running it once. Just a suggestion

I'm gonna rerun all my 140 and complete next batch. Should I go full reflux? Would it help it taste better?
