Started out with a great wash of course. Just happen to be using my patent pending SF wash found in the recipe section. Got it started with two pinchs of CB distillers yeast proofed up in a pint or so of cooled down wash (Thanks for that tip Heeler.) Followed a couple of hours later with 1/4 cup Fleishmans Bread yeast (thanks Doc.)

Seemed like it would never catch but it finally did and nearly blew the lid off the bucket. That was a gassy wash. Not sure which of the yeasts did the dirty work of maybe it was a tag team affair...but the wash checker sunk so deep it was past the numbers and white paper on the inside...about a quarter inch of the top of the glass tube was all that was showing.

Siphoning it in to the boiler noticed it could have been let set another week as the bottom 1/4 or slightly more was still fairly milky with high solids. Think it was a week or maybe ten days old.


Added the "leftover" copper mesh to the column. Made two more plugs for a grand total of six..plust the handful on top of the cooling pipes. Expecting a big increase in ABV (Thanks Ratflinger.)


Added a quart of feints..mostly tails a pat of butter and the secret mystery chain. Ran it through the extractor. Heat up time one hour (think that extry copper made it heat up a bit slower.)

The beast acted real similar to last time..with both elements active and all the water I have going to the column. Temps settled in at 172 and it started gushing like a school girl. Slowly worked its way up to 180 then went nuts high on the high side.

An hour and a half after get up to temps..2.5 hrs total it was all over but the crying. Made a bunch of good smelling hooch. I will repoat back if it happens to taste funny. I did sample a little and think its just fine.

Strained off all the liquid feasible from the fermenter..added 20 lbs sugar..2 beanos 3 cups fresh SF and 1 cup rye flakes soaked in hot water and filled back up with hose water.

Ok will do. Might be a while. I still have drinking stock on hand..lol. Just looked at the new ferment. Its rocking and rolling.
