I'm on my second full pint from my corn meal wash using a PS II in pot mode. The yield still smells like wet cardboard. Is this normal or am I still on heads? The first half pint tested at 130 proof my 2nd and 3rd half pints were at 108 proof.

Also is this the first run of this particular wash in pot mode? :)

The method to make cuts I normally use is smell and by watching the temps. Yes this is a new wash, I've never ran before. I may keep this whole run and then do a stripping run idk yet. I know that in pot mode that i'm going to get some different smells, tastes. Thanks for the reply. I just started my 3rd pint or 5th half pint. I'm going to try to turn the propane down a bit and get a slower drip to see if this helps. Originally Posted by: scotty How or by what method do you separate the heads, hearts and tails. The wet cardboard smell is usually associated with tails. Heads are more acetone smelling. Only thing I can think of is maybe it was run too fast. That can make the hearts smell like tails..smearing as some call it. Another possibility is less than ideal sniffing to know when the tails started and they could have got mixed with the other stuff. Believe your right in the that the cure would be to run it one more time but slower..and collect in multiple small jars to make sure the various constituents do not get mixed up in the pecking order. Take care and keeps us posted.
