I would also suggest reading "Making Corn Whiskey" as this seems to be what you are trying to get.

Believe I would quit nudging on that puppy..less thats all you got of course. The scenario would make me believe that stuff has flunked the taste comparison. Least it was cheap. What be he ABV? My store sells Midnight Moon but I have never had the opportunity to sample the stuff. the fruit versions are all 50% ABV. they have an apple pie and straight white shine at 40%. Supposedly it is a straight neutral flavored only by the fruit added to the btl. I will have to try a bottle and let people know.

Hey Hokey...thanks for the low down on on the legal shine. Now that 100 proof is purty stout for fruit laden stuff in most jurisdictions I would guess. Think Fats said he gave twenty bucks for a quart of fore shots with a few blueberries in the bottom. I dont see how them folks could make ends meet on charging only twenty bucks for a quart of hundred proof..especially thinking of how much of the profit margin the guv'ment is taking in the form of taxes. A lot of this hobby is real mysterious.

Yepper Big, 20 buckaroohs for that headach giving stuff Hokey said his apple pie was 80 proof, the apple pie here in Co is only 70 proof........thats why I bought the blueberry.....stated it was bottled at 100 proof........might explain the headache!!!!!!!!

Ok, Here is the skinny on Midnight Moon. I am at work know and looking at them all. Junior Johnson (plain white) is 80 proof.
Apple Pie is 70 proof (you are correct again Fatboylo). All the fruits are 100 proof. Cherry, Blackberry, Blueberry, Cranberry and Strawberry. See ya all later

Well, I don't know (yet) about all this. All I know is that whatever the heck I'm doing here is working the way I want it to! :) I wouldn't call what I make Apple Brandy, but closer to moonshine with a hint of apple flavor. Good stuff! Hope this works as well when I run out of apples. I'm just running a plain old pot still with a 1/2 inch column and a coil thru water condenser. Moving up in the world soon I hope! As for flavors carrying over, I have not the first clue about a reflux still, haven't used or built one (YET!) All my gear so far is home-made and probably will stay that way. I really enjoy this hobby, both for the hooch and for the education I'm getting out of it.
