your in my county then if your near Cades Cove. I'm only about 15 minutes away. In fact from my house to the start of Cades Cove is right at 30 miles. Theres an ole Still in the museum there in the Townsend and one at the visitors center on your way to Gatlinburg on 441. You should swing on through GB tomorrow and visit Ole Smoky Distillery. Don't be surprised as it's not a very well guided tour but you can see just enough. They open at 10am and close at 10pm. free samples too.

"Sorry did'nt make it to Ole Smokey this trip but have been before.
This weekend was the Dawsonville Moonshine festival. Nope...no free moonshine just a carnival type atmosphere. BUT, the OleSmokey people were there and so was the Hillbilly Stills guy (Mike) --I got to put my hands on a flute and I dont mean a skin flute. Gonna post some pics and brag a little....hehehehe
He had his whole deal, pot stills and several flutes setup for you or me to take home and the price while a little out of MY reach did'nt seem unreasonable. I have built stuff all my life and know what craftsmanship is all about, and for the $$$$ I think everybody should invest in one of his stills. Now this is just an opinion but that flute is a thing of beauty for sure. Anyway it was really fun to visit with the crew and Mike and get to touch all the goodies."

Wow kewlish pics. Now I have to have a flute. Overheard one of our esteemed forum members claim he was getting a four holer for Christmas if he continued to be a good boy. Do you think somebody could motivate Admin to build these things? Would save a lot on the shipping and handling..lol.

"Anyway this is another shot of the smaller unit and in the background you can see there on the table is a gin basket and tower connectors -- just more of the stuff that we all need. Oh and on the table on the left is a parrot, man lots of cool stuff to touch and think about. Anyway this concludes the journey through the moonshine country and its been lots of fun shareing it with my hoochin pals so I hope yall enjoyed seeing it as much as I did.  Anyway---- Jasper Newton Daniels (Jack Daniels) and Big Mike of HillBilly Stills all in one trip..damn,what a trip. I guess I can go ahead and die now cause as they say , now I've seen everything."

Heeler. I see what looks like 2 tubes feeding the parrott. is one just a support. If not please tell me the purpose of 2 feed tubes.

HEY!!! Thats 17% if i figured ccorrectly. X times 46000 = 8000 soooo 8000/46000 =.17391------

(((dammit))) I believe that 8000 gallons of likker is what comes off -- but you and I both know cuts have to be made but the folks that tour someplace like that well they dont know or care, ya know what I mean???
They tell of how they use 140 proof likker to start the ricks on fire, they put 2 gallons of something in a pumpup sprayer (they say 140 proof likker) and you can smell the tails permeating through the whole place and to me it just stinks everywhere in the compound because of that. Again use your imagination and fill in the blanks but those of us who have made a run or two can pick out whats what. Not cutting on them just saying.....
I bet they dont use bakers yeast anymore either ((did'nt ask that either)))) its just such a science today that Jack could have NEVER on his best run made a product as good as today but he did kick it in gear.
Damn I guess I have to go back now and take a list of questions with me so I dont forget, oh well maybe next year."

I just re read the whole thread-- i thought that was your equipment and table :) Only one tube feeds the parrot the other is a brace or hanger if you will..the liquid only comes in the bottom. If you scroll back through the pics you will see another little tube that turns up and that is a vent so the hydrometer will sit steady otherwise it will constantly bounce because of the pressure of heat....thnk about it and it will come to you ----heat is pressure and its gotta go somewhere."
