I am very new, (first mash in the works) and I have been researching for months prior to starting and have never found an answer to this question. I have buily my setup with a triclamp on top of my kettle for my reflux I built. Why can't I also build a "normal" riser with this same attachment point to have a basic pot still? Seems like I could run batches through the pot style setup for flavor and run other sugar only batches through the reflux for "pure or clean tasting" batches. Is there a problem with this kind of thinking? If so why?

"Shovelhead,

Welcome!

There's nothing wrong with what you are suggesting. Take a look at the PSII ... it uses the same concept.
