Hi guys. Another new guy here. I have run three washes in the last two months. But just with my Air Still. Firsts one sucked. I think some idiot did not sanitize well enough, (Oh wait that was me.) Any way, second batch I cooked up some corn meal and sugar, toasted and charred some white oak and let it set and it came out delicious. Third was a sugar wash w/ liquid carbon in the ferment and two stage clarifying after and it was clear as tap water (unless you live in Boston). Now I have a Molasses and brown sugar mash fermenting away like crazy after three days. I plan on upgrading eventually but has anyone ever heard of using a built in pool as a water source for ? And would there be any drawbacks?

Interesting topic, our pool water is usually in the 80+ degree range. What temp should the water be for good condensation

From what I've been reading 80+ may be a little high. Not sure though. Someone else would probably be able to tell you better. Up here somewhere in the N. E. USA my pool water rarely gets that high. Bad for swimming. Good for Hoochin'

Hey cornsqueezins, just thinking, If you think it is worth it and have the hoses water at the bottom of a pool is always colder than at the top level.

Our tap water & pool water is too warm, at least I think so. Might do an enclosed loop type system.

I fill a cooler about half full of water and then put the pump in the bottom of the cooler, then put in two bags of ice and run a closed loop system. When the ice melts I drain the half of the water and add more ice. This works good for me. I thought about the pool water but my pool has a salt filter system and did not want to pump that through my still.

For my set up I'm using two 32 gallon trash barrels, one for the column and one for the condensor.
