"So, I accidently make some real good all corn whiskey while experimenting with various materials for ethanol fuel production. I put a bit up in a jug with a cut up charred barrel stave from a local cooperage and left it alone for 4 months. Got it out, proofed it down to 110, added a dash of honey, and put it in half pint bottles for Christmas presents.

My ""experienced"" friends all raved about the quality and subtle flavors. It was my very best work. A sipping whiskey to rival the best store-bought.

I carried a bottle to a party for tastings. Again it got high praise...until a guy emptied the last half of the bottle into a big glass and topped it off with generic diet lemon-lime soda.

I got a quart jar of heads saved up that I was planning on using for window cleaner...I wonder how he would like that with his fake diet 7up? Not really, of course...but you know what I mean. If I had brought a big jug of sugar liquor, it might be different..."

Some People just dont get it, What I do is give my guests some of my good quality shine and once everyone is a little tipsy I start taking out my 90 pf with a razor edge of harshness that can choke a mule and they continue to say it's some good sh**t. I dont want to mean but the truth is I had somewhat of the same experience. You can't change people. Regaurdless you know that your still the victor and out of that still that you have spent countless hours perfecting and the receipes that come and go you made some great quality whiskey, That's what it's all about . My hats down to you sir."

"Bad manners indeed, that's a serious lack of appreciation.

Someone like that probably puts ketchup on his fillet minion."

Tea, I think we've all been there brother...as my father would say, its "casting pearls before swine". I was at a Christmas party recently and a man I respect and like was hosting it. He's not aware of my "farmin" abilities and he had bought a bottle of Crown Royal Special Reseve and he and I were sittling alone, talking and partaking of it, served neat over ice. A guy walked up, saw the bottle and without even asking poured a liberal amount into his canned coke! I tried to hide my displeasure at his intrusion and his manners, but he got the general idea and left us alone.
Some people have no class or taste, I'm not sure what the answer is. I have also done something similar to what caros mentioned...and no one is the wiser...food for thought.

In hind sight, I suppose I should not judge. We just had different expectations. I expected someone to appreciate an artistic creation, he was expecting to get a dose of his drug.

Despite my user name, I understand the appeal of getting drunk enough that you are afraid of falling off of the floor, what I don't understand is being unable to enjoy the subtle inebriation of an ounce or two of good liquor. I have had testers report that the buzz from my humble creations feels different than that of commercial liquor.

I suppose that have chosen to serve the bottle just have different priorities. The advice above is well received. Next time I'll bring a big jug of White Dog and keep a flask of the good stuff in my pocket for those that might appreciate it.

I think it's evolution. Falling off the floor is primitive ... subtle inebriation is an adaptation to our environment ... a sort-of Darwinian advancement. As the years have passed, I no longer drink like a neanderthal, nor do I look like one (at least as evidenced by the loss of hair from my head).Wink

As for that unique buzz ... I've definitely noticed that ... but I've always dismissed it, thinking I was just imagining it. Pretty weird.
