"Well let me say I love potato vodka, and I found a recipe and wanted to start a mash, The truth be known I was board and really jumped the gun, lol. I have no tools of the trade so to speak I made my on bubbler, I have a small pot 4 gal almost ready to go, oh yeah I did my mash and I do not have a hydrometer (the big mistake) yet its on its way should be here in few days, back to the mash The recipe I used said 10lb Potato"s peeled and cut in to small cubes and bring to a boil I don"t remember Temp any way cubes should be soft, I strained mash and replaced into my stock pot, at this time its yellow and really cloudy, ( should I have maybe strained a few more times with like a cheese cloth, to clean it up? anyway it called for 5lb sugar when it cold down some I added sugar then transfer to carboy, add yeast, it was bubbling almost on contact not fast but within 4hrs it was shooting yellow mash about a foot out the bubbler, oh I did not what Amylase Enzyme was nor did I have any, till I found out by Google (Beano) so dropped 6 pills in 8 hrs. after fermenting started, this was 4 days ago its still bubbling. I have sediment on bottom but its still way to cloudy.

I know that I jumped the gun but Damn it"s been fun so far. Would it be wise for me to siphon off mash down to the sediment line and let it keep going, and if I can"t get it to clear up is it worth me filtering it through cheese cloth. And I know that it will be trash in product after Distilling. But will it screw up my pot when I do?

I but there is a few people out there that"s really getting a good laugh off this,, as you should Hell I am So any suggestions for one BIG newbie break in mistake..RollEyes"

You dont need to strain it again, cloudy is not an issue as long as there are no solids floating in it. If its fermenting then leave it alone and let it do its thing. Give it 8-10 days to get good and done and then syphone it off down to the goop in the bottom, leave all that behind if you can and still it."

Cool:) MY FIRST EVER well i ran 2 1/2 gall through today I know that i did not start off on right foot. But I am pleazed with the out come1st jar 120 proof the mash was at 12% av, the only then was there is a little hint of a bitprob csuse i had to use to much yeast,, let a few of my buds have to little taste test and they liked it a lot,,, i have 2 gall of wash left to run , i saved almost 1 qt of tails do I need to add them to the 2gall that i have left to run,,, not as good as Luksusowa but it deffently has the sweet and a i hint of a bit of the potato flavor diffently different ,,,
