"I see lots of info on installing couplings and elements in boilers but I can't find any info on what to do about the wires to the element so they aren't exposed. What is anyone doing that uses a water heater element?

I do not have a great cover but we have a panel shop and alot of times we will add silicone on the area so atleast you cant get shocked....

I use old inner tubes cut to wrap around the setup and then tie wraps to hold the rubber. im still scrounging some inner tube for my last 2. The hot liquor pot and mash tun.

I did the same except I put shrink wrap over the tube rather than tie wraps

Hey, Thanks for those ideas, I have plenty of inner tube strips, I get used truck tire tubes from a local tire shop for free and cut them in strips to wrap my crab pots.

Didn't someone weld a junction box around the water heater element and install a female plug in the box? I thought I read that here somewhere...sorry, can't find it. Maybe I'm just dreaming...
Nah, wouldn't work. To plug it in, you'd have a male plug that might have power to it and could shock a person. Not good.
