"hi everybody. i just bought a waring pro hot plate to use for my heat source. i also bought a rsc and am going to bypass the hot plates thermostat. however, with this model, im unclear about which wires to solder together to do this. hopefully these pictures load and yall can help! the first photo is of power cord and the start of the internal wiring. if the item on the left is the control knob, my guess is just to by pass it- your pictures leave me guessing however

Hi, I'm confused too because I can't tell which of your wires do what. Your dealing with the wires that are connected to each side of the thermostat knob/switch basically. Here is the simplest way I've found in my research on this: Unplug Everything First. 1. Unplug everything  2. Open the hot plate enough to ID and locate the wire that goes from the thermostat knob to the heating element. Disconnect this wire from the heating element. Cap this wire, not needed anymore. 3. Locate the wire that goes from the power cord directly to the thermostat knob. Disconnect this wire from the thermostat knob and connect it to the heating element where the wire from step #2 above was originally connected. Hope that helps, NS

yep that totally helps and clarifies exactly what i was wondering. in the last post i made that is exactly the wires i was talking about so that really solidifies everything. after a couple minutes of thought and ID'ing it made more and more sense thanks

successfully by passed the hot plate and did my sac run and cleaning run. currently have to different mashes going should both be ready in a couple days or so. cant wait to get the rsc in the mail so we can be complete

You must be stoked, all ready to go, nice! I'm taking this new venture very slowly, more reading and more research for me. I did pick up a homebrew beer kit though, going to try and get that started this week. Good luck, NS

I dont use a hotplate but do they get hot enough to NEED a RSC'er for the adjustment? It was my impression that a plate was enough to get it to distill but not so much as to boil your product, just courious....
