"On my last two runs ive collected my run 200ml at a time to make cuts later..
Everything I collected comes out white and my hearts look clear as water..
But after leaving the mason jars out over night the shine turned yellow!

My setup is a 22qt stock pot with a 10in long 1in Followed down into a 1/2 worm.
YeS I've cleaned the copper with a vinegar and water run...sanc alc run
I've even dipped and soaked my lyne arm in vinegar and water for an hour.
No there are no solids in my wash..I can't figure this one out.

Is your lyne arm suppose to smell bad?
My first run with this new still came out just fine. Which was an apple brandy.
My 2nd and 3rd which turned yellow where a sweet feed and corn mash."

Hi Wewtster, I'm not sure why your product turned yellow other than possibly some sort of contaminate. Everything should be clear.

Your lyne arm should not smell bad. At least I don't think copper smells bad. If you have some other odor in there, that may be the cause of your contamination. Maybe someone that has had this problem will be more helpful.

It has to be and no this odor is strong lol it's not a 'copper' smell..I've tried to clean it between my second and third run. Btw I am not drinking the shine..it does smell good though! Also I did my thre runs within a week period with this new rig...

"If it puked, even if it boiled into your riser, I would expect you'd see the yellow straight away ... and early in the run ... so that's been ruled out.

Is it possible that you have iron getting in there somehow? What about your collection jars? ... any residues from soap/detergents?"

It did not puke I've got a class inmy pot lid where I can watch my boil. My mason jars I washed out very well..I did insert a stainless scrubber in my worm. Maybe that's why? I pulle it out and it was coated in black crap which I understand is normal. Why is my lyne arm so smelly? Im about to just scrap the copper and make a new rig.

If it was copper mesh, I'd say some ""black crap"" would be normal due to reaction with sulphur ... but I'm not aware of a reaction that would turn stainless black. Maybe the scrubber was coated with something? Or wasn't really stainless?

It sounds like you have a cool rig ... I'd try some copper mesh up there ... or a least test again without the scrubber before throwing in the towel."

Too late I'm working on. Massive 60in liebig and picked up some 2in copper. 10 bucks for 15 inches! I just need an elbow and a keg now. Ill reuse some parts like my ntp fittings and it the rest of it was cheap.

I figured out my problem. It was the stainless scrubber. I put one in a glass of water and I turne yellow. Lesson learned at the cost of 8gallons of wash..oh well.
