Can I position my Liebig in a straight up and down position? I know most run it off a 45 but if I run off a 90 instead it will be straight up and down..and water will be force all around the inner tube verse just the sides on lower flow rates.

Hi Wewtster, Most of the liebigs I have seen running perpendicular to the tower are ones that end in a parrot. Not saying you can't. I always run my liebig cooling water on full so I don't have the problem you allude to.

It's not really a problem..i was just thinking about it an realized running it vertically would more sense sense the water is forced up and has to cover all sides. I know a lot of people wrap wire on the outside of the vapor tube too..

"If you are running your water full open it will fill the jacket of your liebig no matter what the angle. This is a picture of a small still I use for batch testing and essential oil extraction. The outer jacket of the liebig is 1 inch covering a 1/2 inch core I have full water flow from bottom to top with no problem. I was using my sink with a garden hose but I now just use a pump to recycle the water. After running with the pump I have zero problems..not that I did before lol
