Paul, Go to 'building a home distillation apparatus' at homedistiller.org, go to equipment, making a still to design and plans, to reflux stills and click on build a world class distillation apparatus. This is a hundred or so pages of very defined plans and how to use the reflux stills. There are two different stills, a valved and an internal reflux still. In my humble opinion, the valved is the way to go. It is very easy to operate and you controll the refluxing. It cost me about $200 usd to build mine out of copper and I use a beer keg for a pot. Also, Gert Strand has a article on making and using a carbon filter, good to get...then go to home distiller.org/wash-sugar.htm....this site gives many good receipies as well as explanations...hope this helps...jimbull

I built the internal reflux column and it work great. Worth all the pains I took to build one. I am finally enjoying my first batch of neutral wash with scotch essences added and it is grrrrrrrrrreat. I will be placing a order shortly for more scotch.

Here is a link where I got a Mexican Cactus reflux still plans. I don't wnat to infringe on any copy rights so you will have to purchase the book. It is well worth the $9.95 and the still works! It uses an electric water heater and it runs like champ.
Go to: http://www.gin-vodka.com/making-gin.html
Hope this helps.
