"Never heard of anybody doing it but a buddy of mine says corn syrup (Karo) is corn that's already broken down, you don't have to cook it. Sounds like BS to me but since I ain't no expert I thought I'd better ask.

On a related note, there seems to be no way to search for phrases or multi word things like ""corn syrup"". No matter how you put it in, you get ""corn"" and/or ""syrup""."

It's corn syrup, but it's an awfully expensive way to go. I'm not sure if there are any issues with preservatives.

Hi FTC,
I would have to agree with JB, cooking your own corn has to be a lot less expensive. If you have cash to spend, give it a shot. part of our hobby is experimenting and you never know you might get something good out of it.

I tried it once, really wasn't different than plain sugar. CS is purified to fructose so there is negligible corn flavor. End result was a neutral spirit
