"Hi All,

I keep seeing a crumb here or there that speak to ""mods"" to the PSIIHC's. A valve on the cooling water, using copper mesh in the tower, and the raschid chips in the boiler, etc..

Is there a thread or link here to a list of mods? I searched, went back pages an pages deep to look, but to no avail. I even used my handy-dandy search techniques, but no joy...

Jes a wonderin'...."

"Ill guess RED
2---1 inch NPT couplings on the boiler ((If you intend to use electricty to heat) only one on the 8 gallon boiler and 2 on the 15
1 ---1/2 inch ball valve as a drain
This is my own idea. 1-- 1 inch NPT coupling ((with a screw in plug)) in the cover as a fill port

The copper mesh fills the tower during a reflux run for vodka-- only one roll during pot mode

I like to insulate the boiler and tower-- i run on the porch all the time

folks pack copper mesh around the cooling tubes for more efficiency.

i run a sensor a the base as well as the top of the tower

I cant remember more right now but ill bet there are :)

The raschig rings in the bottom of the boiler ((BOILING CHIPS) ONLY IF you are heating with propane"

Check the thread that Maddawgs started when he ordered his.

i think most of the mod's your referring to was for the 2" version. There was a thread ( sticky i think ) on the hd site that talked about several of the changes you mentioned.

As far as mods the the 3" version, I'll second the need for a drain.

Scotty, tell us more about the sensors

"Hi Scotty and thanks..

I opted for a Blichmann, so it'll be propane...Not saying I wouldn't use the 1500W plate I got with the PSII, but now I'm using that as my BOP pre-heater.

I was also referring to the values in the cooling water lines too. I'm rather embarassed to say I've not had good luck lately, but it's all crap I am doing wrong or got confused on. So I haven't posted about it, kindalike keepin mum when ya know ya played the tune wrong and yer friends leave it be..

Also, it's spring, so I've precious time available so my progress/digression goes in spurts...Someday when I'm retired, maybe there will be at least another hour of free time Wink

Once we get a list, I'll be glad to write a thread about it, I'm fairly reliable at writing crap, and glad to do it to help.

Cheers"

Hi RCR,
I just set my PSIIHC up a little over a week ago and I (following the advice from others on the site) am using 2 separate water pumps each with there own water barrel, a 32g trash can for the product condenser and a 55g plastic barrel for the tower. The condenser water doesn't get to warm but the tower water does get warm and I need to add frozen 2lt. water bottles to it. I just let the product condenser water run full flow and I have a 1/2" bronze gate valve on the tower condenser water which gives more control over a ball valve IMO. This water system has gave me some very good results in my first three runs so far and is very easy to control. Hope this helps...

Hey RoyseCityRed, Go to the HD forum and use the search box for "psII mods". There are a few pages of info there.
