I bought "Golden promise" Malt to put in my Rye Whiskey recipe. Do I need to mill it or can I use it whole?

Best to do a course grind or cracking. I don't use grain meal as it's a PITA to seperate from the mash.

Thanks! I guess I'm headed back to the store to have them grind it. Wait will a blender do the job?

With a blender you will get some course pieces and a bunch of powder. Take it back and have it ground to a course grind. If you plan on doing a lot of grain mashes you might consider buying a grain mill so you can set it the way you like it, they're pretty inexpensive.
Another thing you can do is put it in a ziplock bag and crush it with a rolling pin. Works better than a blender.

I do like the rolling pin Idea... I'll give that a shot first. If it doesnt work ill go to the blender for a test run. Then probably back to the store LOL.
