First wash 100% sugar, FG 0.086 Smells sweet and appealing. Transferred to glass, Wash is cloudy-white, do I need to clear before distillation? Can't wait for the big first day.

Bob, you need to clear your wash, distill, then dilute your final product before bottling. I use Sparkoloid as a clearing agent and it does great. You can use many products but the wash should be clear before distilling or you may end up with a scorch taste due to the sediment.

freebrew, Thanks Man! I used Sparkloid tonight and will distill in a week. Any other pointers for a first run would be great. Do you normally carbon filter? and re-use carbon? Thank you my friend, Bob H

Yes, I re-use my carbon. I boil my carbon about 3 times with fresh water each time. After the third time I then set the carbon and let it dry. Before I use the carbon I will boil it again a couple of times then let it set over night before I use the carbon. I then filter the next day. After 3 uses I boil as above then I make a foil tray and put the carbon on my grill with the lid closed and let it cook for about 3 hours to re-energize.
