Just thought I'd stop and introduce myself. I am Wuglar and I am from Earth.

I am only about 1 month into a good still from BH. And about 6 months into a new hobby.

I would love to tell you guys a story of how I learned the trait from my grandfather and how we spent his last few days here on earth with me, hitting some shine and picking up chicks.

Unfortunately, I barely remember him. But something tells me we have a lot in common. My Dad tells me that grandpa used to make his alcohol. Potato beer & whiskey and Dandelion wine and whiskey. I have not tried any of these recipes. From the way all the family talks, they are better off forgotten. lol

Anyway, I would still love to tell you... how hearing about my grandfather and his likker adventures from all my family members is what got me interested in the hobby.

Unfortunately, I reluctantly tell you, honestly, it was the TV series "Moonshiners" that got me interested in this hobby. I wish it were another way but it's true.

So... I know we all come from different places and everyone is interested in a little bit different stuff. But I am here to learn, live and make booze.

I look forward to chatting with you all and learning from our adventures.

I am also posting a pic of my still. I am working on a different cooling system but am open for suggestions.

Nah ... based on your history that series just encouraged you to take the final plunge at best. I know lots of folks that watch the series and would never consider getting a rig set up. Your awareness of your heritage and admiration of your grandfather is what got you interested ... you're continuing the tradition by picking up where your grandfather left off.

Best Regards,

"Heya Wulgar..

Glad to make yer acquaintance, and all. I'm originally from the Mountains of Virginia. Grew up watchin my maternal GanMa sip from a jug, never really knowing what :) Later as I got a tad above three feet tall, I helped my cousins and uncle a bit here and there. It was just their stock and trade. To her dyin' day at 86 years young, GanMa had her jug, calling it her medicine..

Honestly, I hadn't thought much about it for nigh to 40 years till that damn show came out. I've had my rig since before that show came out thou, but it was more a prepper thing than any thing else.

I felt the ability to distill and purify water, and other things in the event of a real disaster would be a significant survival option to have at hand. I never had, nor have now, the intention of emulating ""pickle"" and equiping travel trailers with hot and cold runnin' shine.. Strictly personal enjoyment, and should the need arise, I could make antiseptic, fuel, and be able to barter for goods that we take for granted today.

No, I'm not a prepper, I don't have a trailer buried underground out in the pasture full of crap. I grow a lot of food, can it, and set back stores is all. Like most confederates, I don't reside in Va any longer.. BigGrin"
