"Hey all!! Not to rattle anyones feathers, but I feel as if I constantly see threads (mine included) where there are anywhere from 40 to 300 views, and 10-15 (if any at all) responses. Why do so many people spend time reading through peoples questions or concerns, and maybe 5% of people take the time to comment and put in their 2 cents? Aint that what we're here for, is to share stories and opinions and help one another??

Travis"

Heya..

I'll reply if I've soemthing constructive/helpful to say, but I don't make "Oh that looks great" or "Thanks, this looks scrumpcious" or short posts like that in serious discussion.

To me it detracts from the meat of the conversation in the thread. Just my .02.

Off topic, another story Cool

"Travis, I dont mean this to sound like a smart ass so plz dont take it that way!
We had a fella here a while ago that hit every post no matter what it was, and I mean every post. Not that - that in itself is a bad thing but this dude would add pages of posts to a thread that had absolutly nothing to do with the original thought, just to have a reason to type or just to have a place to get beligerent. I'm not sure he even ran a still, he posted like he was a pro but hell who knows.
Now with that in mind all of his stuff actually made folks slow down on posting and wanting to participate in the discussions at all. (incedently he was asked to leave or should I say -banned from this site)..

My opinion is, anybody that has info we can learn from plz add it so we can all utilize this place to the utmost. And if its just some humor well add that to the right place or thread I should say --you know--just for fun or general ideas. Me, I come here at least once a day and really enjoy seeing the ideas and discussions that are happening daily and if I see a post that I might be able to add on something that worked or maybe did'nt work for me well I will. Some might just stop in with no time to get into a long discussion or swapping of ideas. I guess what I'm getting at is even if folks dont want to add something they might still get something out of stopping in and just reading without actually adding to the conversation and thats cool too.

Just like this post...how many will actually respond?? Other than just skimming through and dismissing it!! No harm no foul though. And this is just my humble opinion."

I noticed that when I first came here , I'd have 40 views on a thread I started with no comments. Thought hmm am I not explaining myself properly or don't they like.new comers lol. I don't comment much because a lot is to do with the brewhaus stills, I don't have one and have never run a similar still, it's only been pot still and bubbler. Totally agree about getting info out there and sharing to move ahead heeler :).

There are tons of browsers that are not members. OR Does the questions you ask make it obvious that you have done no research on your own???

No Sir, I'm worry that I have done the research poorly-followed a bad branch off a thread, etc, and now, I get to look really stupid publicly-I get to do that with the wife often enough... Sometimes, it's hard to know without spending a lot of time reading and comparing. If you are like me, there's only so much 'desk' time a guy has-or wants to spend.

I will say that every failure I have had in recent months I found the cure for by reading here and at HD. I don't need to post if I can find the answer, because imho - the secret to advancement is find one's own missteps, but realizing when to ask for help. But, if I can find a thread where it's been discussed, I don't like to bump them until I have applied what directives they offer. If that failes, then I post.

Also, for your consideration, I've participated in a lot of personal computer hardware and software support over the years via the internet in forums just like this. Hell, there's a "forum" for every thing on the planet these days..(Even raising sheep) In those places, just as here, it's mostly browsers looking for answers the same as I am, and you see the same usage pattern. mostly lookers and a core of posters. Nothing wrong with that, it's the nature of the media.

Good day ahead.. Keep yer powder dry, and yeast refrigerated ;D

Most forums seem to have a 10 to 12 ratio reads to responses. I think most people are just to lazy to bother to respond unless they can directly relate to the topic at hand or if they know the answer to the question from first hand experience. I guess it's best that way, the alternative is an ocean of opinions.

I wouldn't want to give bad advice on a subject I have little or no experience with so I only reply when I have something to add that is helpfull.
