"looking at hot water heater controls etc
does it all hook up the same ?
and what elements are best to use"

"Kane, I read your statement as you are trying to use the thermostat of a hot water heater for your still boiler. Remember a water heater cycles and that wont work with a still boiler. What you need is steady temp control like a router speed controller.
And any heating element will work with a router controller because that unit is what controls the electric going to the element. With that in mind...the RSC'er is how you set the temp and control the heat.
There are several threads that discuss this topic - type in that little search box up top ---""Beer keg going electric"" and maybe that will help you some."
