i wonder if it would be a good idea to add an extra marble into the condensor part with the other marble....

i was getting ready to do a batch and i found that i had lost may marble, not my marbles,, the last run turned out great..
so what does the marble do, will having 2 instead of one be better????

some one once told me to put some in the still to do a bit of clearing!!
that just seems wierd!!!

any help would be great..

Marbles, cermics in the bottom of the still pot keep the heat at a more even temperature, thus giving a smoother more even run. and it does help

cover the bottom of your pot with them and a little way up the sides, I wouldn't double layer them, but would not hurt. It just acts like a heat sink making the temp more constant and less subject to rapid changes, ie. wind, sudden draft, run out of propane, etc, etc....

Jimbull I am glad to see you back on the forum. You have been silent for some time now. Drop me a line and tell what has been going on. By the way I am not sure there is a difference in marbles. I will stick with my rings. I have used them several times and I love them and have wonderful products, and all my friends love the product as well.

c...fb, Been over in Jacksonville, fl on a lift boat for the last three weeks, just got home and will probably leave again this week. Gotta work, damn it!!! Got my wife a better job and she STILL wants me to work...never satisfied!
Marbles, as long as they are fired, are marbles. In the us I think all would be safe to use as they are usually glass or cermic, although the cermic are expensive so my guess is that they are glass..Yes the rings are the best, least I think so....got some good brew going, ten gals of wine that I just racked for the first time and it tastes great. Going to do some rum when I get back...best to all.....jimbull

I will be doing some rum this summer from fresh cane squeezings. I have a friend that makes sorghum and is going to let me have 5 gallons of fresh squeezings before the are cooked. I will let you know how it goes.

What recipe do you follow for the rum? Do you reflux and mix cuts or pot still?

,trying to get my knowledge base up on rum before I try a batch myself ;, ,

I have a reflux. I plan on fermenting the juice then using a reflux still. I will read and get more information before I actually do this project.
