"I just came across this article: The New Prohibitionists The taxpayer-funded Obamacare temperance league. Here's an excerpt ( emphasis added): Quote:These funds are being used to dole out grants to organizations that are pushing the CDC"s questionable political agenda. For instance, the CDC"s Community Transformation Grant program fact sheet states the program is "funded by the Affordable Care Act"s Prevention and Public Health Fund." According to the CDC"s website, grants are available to "spread community-wide change" by "support[ing] state, local and Tribal Nation implementation and enforcement of alcohol control policies." According to the CDC, "examples may include .  .  . reducing the density of retail alcohol outlets." In plain English, the CDC"s model grant recipient is someone who wants to lobby for stricter local zoning laws for alcohol sales, never mind that federal grant monies are not supposed to be used for lobbying. Just when we think there is a glimmer of hope to legalize hobby distilling, the fourth branch of government, the federal bureaucracy, is growing new tentacles in places we would never have previously imagined. If the goal was to control, then using health care (via the Affordable Health Care Act) was the perfect strategy. I'm starting to wonder when growing your own vegetables, fishing, hunting, or even reading certain books, will somehow be deemed unhealthy ... and therefore prohibited."

Oh well, the further they restrict alcohol sales, the more people will turn to home distilling. And the base for home distillers will grow...

This kind of non-sense legislation would drive the hobby distiller further underground and bring back the speak-easy mentality, the mobs controlling the alcohol trade and all the things for which prohibition was repealed. Someone needs a histiory class instead of a religion class. I have heard that the American Indian did not handle alcohol well in large quanties- if that is true, madbe they need some extra protection, but certainly not everyone. Alli

There is a global (i.e., United Nations) movement to first restrict and eventually eliminate alcoholic beverages. They will start on two fronts: taxation (making the consumer cost beyond the reach of the average citizen) and health regulations (look back at the 1906 Pure Food and Drug Act).
