"First and foremost ""Don't shoot the messenger"". As bizarre as this recipe may seem ""it's a pretty good recipe"". I was trolling for recipe on WWW and read a ""tinny tiny"" string of a recipe someone posted. Corn Flaked Sugar Wash (Old Timers can not tell the difference)Here are the ingredients for a 5gal Wash which technically is a mash because of the CORN flakes
- 2-1lb Boxes of Corn Flakes (Cheap store bought generic will do fine)
- 6lb of Sugar
- 5gal distilled water
- 48 hr Turbo Yeast
""the recipe called for stale corn flakes, ewwww no way, I used a cheap brand of corn flakes""
- You will need a blender to do this recipe.
- Boil 1gal of distilled water dump into your fermentation vessel
- Blend 1.5lbs of Corn Flakes into a fine grain to powder and add to your fermentation vessel
- Every time you dump your blended Corn Flakes ""Stir vigorously""
- the idea is dissolve as much of the corn flakes as possible-Once all Corn Flakes are added
- Dump either 1/2gal or 1gal of boiling distilled water into your fermentation vessel
- Add 6lb of Sugar ""Stir vigorously""
Once Sugar is dissolved Top Off! with the 3gal of distilled water left over ""Stir vigorously""
- Assuming you have used the 48hr turbo yeast; once your temperature is right add your Turbo yeast.
And treat the Mash like you're making a sugar wash.
- Once the Air locker has stop bubbling; wait a couple of days to let it separate and clear .. siphon off the Top which should yield about a 4.5 wash
Distill and taste ""Nobody will know wiser"" modification - You can add more corn flakes depending on your taste - but be careful on adding more sugar whereas it will dilute the corn taste. If anybody makes this tell me how it turned out"

"that recipe dosen't sound bizzar at all, in fact its a pretty well known one, it's called Corn Flakes Whiskey. Now it will work just as well without the turbo and prolly taste better too but no worries. It's a sugar head corn likker. And it will work ok without useing a blender to pulverize the flakes just add the cereal to the hot water and make sure your sugar is melted and mixed all together. If you use bakers yeast or distiller yeast add some yeast fuel and enzymes and it'll be pretty good depending on how you make cuts and still it. It's good so givera go."

Thanks heeler - I will take your advice - and use some of my Amylase enzyme, and I have a pack of Prestige WD that I can toss in. I will come back to this thread in a week or two .. and let you know how it turned out"

Ok cool...I have heard some say that likker tastes as good as an --all grain likker, but still it comes down to how you still it and make your cuts. Good luck and keep us posted.

I used flaked maze and a couple pounds of two row malted with corn sugar from a beer store. I was pleased with the results. 6 months in a 2 liter chared barrel and it was great.

"but yea that's a good one" . if you have a local Beer store try the "Kill Me Quick" recipe .. You will like it!
