I done 4 different 5gal UJSSM at the same time. 2 done with sweet feed and 2 with corn all the same way, Now the problem is 3 of them have never finished fermenting one. One of the sweet feed I have already done a 2 gen on it, while the other ones still seem to be working very slowly. The corn ones are showing a SG of 1.03 and 1.04 while the other sweet feed is showing a SG of 1.04. I did each one of them the same way nothing different. Any input as too why they are going so slow and the one was done twice already?
Here is what I followed
5 gallons water. 7 lbs corn. 7 lbs of granulated sugar. 1 tbsp yeast Where it calls for corn on two of them I used sweet feed

Just checking if you dropped a '0': Is that 1.04 or 1.004 ?

"The recipe is just a sugar wash with some corn/molasses tossed in for flavoring. So there's only a few things that can keep it from finishing:
- Yeast is bad or was killed (pitched at too high of a temp). - Fermentation temperature too low. - Insufficient nutrients. - Wash is bad (e.g. too acidic)
I would start with checking my yeast. Try making a starter using a diluted sample of your wash plus a teaspoon of sugar. If it starts, then you can re-pitch."

ok I will try it today? it is still bubblin but very slow I used the same things two of them were from the same bag of sweet feed nad the corn was from the same bag. The yeast I used was from a large bag of red star yeast. The only thing I can think of is maybe on three of them the temp might have been alittle hight but I even try and make sure that is even the same ever time

" Quote:it is still bubblin but very slow You mentioned that in your original post ... but I didn't read it carefully enough. If it's still bubbling, then I'd say not to worry yet ... just give whatever time it needs. On your next batch just try to let things cool to at least 90 F before pitching. Also, you didn't mention if you aerated. Once things cool down, dump the wash back-and-forth between buckets several times. That will add some oxygen that the yeast need to get the colony growing."

I agree with all of these...even if your wash was happy the starting temp is important and with that recipe its really lacking in food energy for the yeast, if you get yourself some Brewhaus nutients that recipe will work everytime."

I just repitched some yeast and it took off. The yeaast that I am using does have some nutrients in it. The only thing that I can tink of is I didn't measure the temp on each one to make sure that they were the same. Might have pitched the yeast alittle to hot.
