I had mentioned this in the introductions. But wanted to make it title to try to get more info. Is any one trying to distill at elevation i am at 10,800 ft . There is plenty out there on boiling temp of water but how about recipe changes and distill temp changes thank you

Hi Maverick, I have'nt done any stilling at altitudes anywhere near what your talking. But I would think that the boiling point differences in water would come close to the differences in the boiling point for alcohol. You can most likely find that info online if no one here has a good answer.

I think I am more worried about the recipe for instances you have to change things to bake up here some people just dump more flower in there recipe and there stuff comes out ok I am not the type of person that is happy with ok

Hi maverick, I think the recipe will be the same but the action of the fermentation may be different, I'm not sure. I'll be very interested in reading your reports on how things go.

most mashing occurs at about 160 deg. F. thats aproximately all you need to make conversion. distilling should be simpler for you because of lower atsmopheric pressures

Hey Maverick - just curious if you've done any stilling at high elevation yet. I'm also curious about the effect of altitude on boiling points. I'm at about 7800' and water boils at about 199 F. I haven't finished my still yet, but I figured for a starting point I'd adjust temps downward by 0.94 (e.g. 0.94 x 212 = ~199 boiling point of H2O at my elevation). Once I get my rig finished and a few runs under my belt, I'd be happy to follow up with my experience.
