My aluminum diffuser plate melted a hole in it. I have found a better alternative. A ceramic pizza stone from pampered chef. Perfect size. Try it, you'll be glad you did.

Try it, you'll be glad you did. Yea, but then, what do I bake my goods on? I LOVE that stoneware - I have the whole set - Pie pans, casserole, square and round pizza ones, the small and large baking bowls.. Me Missus used to host Pampered Chef parties in her life before me.. That girl can't cook any thing and burns water (It's criminal what she does to Mac and Cheese), but she had the best stoneware on the planet in boxes ... Go figure.. NO matter, I got 'em when the vow got sealed some 18+ ago... Made sense since I'm the House Cook.. Among other sundry elements.. Been making biweekly payments ever since *hehe* |

Opened it up just enough to keep the flame from going out. I don't know what else to do that way. 1200 watt electric hot plate would take 3 hours to heat up before I got anything coming out. Then it would take6-7 hours to run 5 gallons. Any suggestions?

Yea, but it's expensive... Change the jetting on the turkey fryer or, you can invest in a Blichmann Propane Burner - Made for this... http://www.northernbrewe...chmann-floor-burner.html That diffusion plate was only for the hot plate and using-it with a burner can cause it to melt. It's simply not rated for those temps. I ran into the exact same issue you did.. Took me all day (or what seemed like it) to heat 10 gals. Not so with Mr. Blichmann... 1 hour, ten gals and it has very finite control for just a bubble of a flame to a torrent- Do some searches here n at hd.org's forms for some pix, but dude, it's the best - Glad I popped two months mad money for it... I also use it to heat the barn too. Takes about 55 minutes to raise the temp in there by ten degrees..Been colder than normal here lately and it's a lot faster than that damn kero heater I have out there. |
